Surface Pattern Design

Hello…….

I’m Nina and I’m a surface pattern designer and illustrator from Manchester, UK.

I have a passion for all things print and pattern! My designs are often inspired by my love of nature, the changing seasons and my surrounding landscape. I often find inspiration whilst out on family dog walks with Boo the Schnoodle. When I am not designing I also have a passion for cooking, I love nothing more than creating a feast for my family and friends, or you will find me crocheting something, a new found skill!

My creative journey started a few moons ago now, after I completed a BA [Hons] Textiles Degree. I started my career working for high street retailer suppliers, and then went on to work as an in house designer for a leading UK high street brand for many years. I now work independently and love to collaborate or license my designs with brands and retailers on a range of products. My designs are available to license or I would love to work on new exciting commissions and collaborations. My Process…….

I love creating my patterns in my little studio with the radio on and a cuppa! My creative design process begins with a combination of different ways of mark making, pen drawings, painting, inky illustrations or paper collage. My next stage is to digitally render my designs keeping the beautiful, organic forms, and textural irregularities so to keep the hand drawn feel.

Then I combine a bold and colourful colour palette, resulting in my signature style of vibrant, contemporary, abstract designs.

I love getting lost in my artwork and immersing myself in all things colour. Ultimately my hope is that my designs bring joy to people and makes them smile!

I have licensed designs with the following companies, several fabric collections with Dashwood Studio and a variety of notebook designs with Denik.

Plus one of my Denik notebooks designs was selected to be in the Autumn 'Be Kind by Ellen’ subscription box curated by Ellen DeGeneres.
